Message from the Chairman of the Board of Directors

Mahatma Ghandi once said:

“You must be the change which you wish to see in the world.”

Eggleston Services and its employees incorporate such a philosophy in their daily operations.  Over the last 54 years, Eggleston has changed the way our society views those with intellectual and physical disabilities by educating, training and employing them.  The result is a productive  employee who is also a happy member of our society.

Eggleston employs individuals with disabilities in various businesses which offer products and services needed by our community.  And these businesses are designed to survive our often challenging economy.

One example is Eggleston’s document shredding operations, which offers  large and small businesses a secure and cost-effective  method  for confidentially and efficiently eliminating sensitive records  and paperwork.  And by recycling the shredded materials, Eggleston Services make a positive impact by reducing landfill waste and helping our environment.

Change is always in the air at Eggleston Services.  New residential housing options adjacent to our business operations in Hampton provide a residential environment close to work.  Eggleston’s Civitan Acres operation in Chesapeake conducts a summer camp program for adults with disabilities, and uses international camp counselors.  Some counselors have begun taking back some of the things they learn to benefit the disabled in their own countries.

I hope you’ll take a moment to look through our various operations highlighted here on the website.

I invite you to be part of the change.  Whether it’s a donated vehicle, an effort to use our businesses services or volunteering as part of our advisory group, you’ll feel good about the changes you see and the people you meet.   Join me in helping Eggleston empower people and change lives.
